Paraguay invites Gazprom to develop local fields

MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- Paraguay has invited Russian gas giant Gazprom to develop oil and gas fields in the country, Deputy Foreign Minister Oscar Cabello told PRIME late on Tuesday.

Gazprom may operate with its own funds or under joint ventures established with Paraguay state company Petropar. Last week, Petropar’s delegation met with Gazprom’s officials, and the Russian company’s delegation may visit Paraguay in several months, he said.

Russia may also be interested in exports of oil products to Paraguay and other Latin America states, the niche which is now occupied by the U.S. and the E.U., Cabello added.
